Thought of the Week from Brother Thom
There is so much going on in the life of a church on a steady walk with Jesus Christ it would make your head spin. We’re excited about what God has called us to do, and though it can be challenging at times, it’s nothing compared to what many of the disciples lived every day. Imagine the long travels by foot sharing the Gospel, or the harsh realities lived out by Paul. Jesus has asked much of us, but nothing compared to what he endured for us.
Scripture for this week
“There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.” 1 John 4:18
We are so excited to partner with UNITE714 in weekly prayer over the COVID-19 crisis and invite you to join us. The goal is to pray at 7:14am and 7:14 pm, the weekly prayer. We added a menu tab at the top of the page just for UNITE714 Weekly Prayers. Also we will be sticking a post of the weekly prayer to the top of the webpage all week long.
Did You Know – What?
A little history about Did You Know. Almost a decade ago a rural United Methodist Church in North East North Carolina was struggling to survive and literally on the brink of collapse, and then in stepped a new part time Pastor by the name of Bill Masciangelo. Pastor Bill built up that church and made it a beacon in it’s community. One of Pastor Bill’s new implements was a weekly newsletter on the life of the church called “Did You Know.” It was a few years after he retired that our founders split from that church and the UMC denomination to form New Wesleyan. We liked the “Did You Know” format so much that we have implemented it too.
Pastor Bill was called by the Lord to return to ministry this year and now leads a congregation in Moncks Corner, South Carolina.
Take a Break from Quarantine
Quarantine is getting to the best of us, so Let’s Cook! Brother Thom has shot two cooking video’s recently that you can use to gather your kids or spouse in the kitchen and do something together.
What would Jesus Do
The men continue to break quarantine and gather on Sunday mornings . We’re under the state limit for gatherings, but doing as Jesus did in his walk here on earth. Fear is driving the COVID-19 crisis, and too many ministries are using it as reason to either hide, or go on vacation. We gather each Sunday in one our homes and Praise the Lord.
