Each week we publish “Did You Know,” our on-line newsletter on the life of the church. Our 17 May 2020 edition contains the following two items that we felt needed to their own separate post today. We have been in fervent prayer for Deborah Smith and others fighting Ocular Melanoma. The fight continues as does the need to raise awareness.
“Pray without ceasing” 1 Thessalonians 5:17, just three simple words but some of the most powerful found in the Scripture. We have been praying for Deborah Smith and many of her friends for several months now. Deborah has stage four Ocular Melanoma. She has been admitted to Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, where her doctors have suspended the trial treatment she was in. She will begin radiation treatment on her tumors. Please keep Deborah and her family in your thoughts and prayers.
Ocular Melanoma Awareness Month
We are in OM awareness month, and Friday May 15th, Saturday May 16th and Sunday May 17th are Eye Patch Days. OMF says “Wearing an eye patch is a great way to start a conversation with co-workers, friends and neighbors about OM and how important it is to see an ophthalmologist regularly.”
We will be sporting our eye patches to help raise awareness in our area.
