Read Part I here

Since the Bible does not address gender in terms other than male and female, all classifications save one, listed in a previous post on this subject, have no Biblical bearing, no Biblical support. The one is “H”, heterosexual. The Bible does, however, address sexual behaviors. It covers those behaviors from thinking about sex (lusting) to the various methods through which humans might participate in sex or in sexual acts. Please bear in mind that homosexuality in any form, that is, sex between men or sex between women, is not mentioned in the Bible. The words “homosexual” and “homosexuality” were coined during the late 1800’s and could not therefore, have been used in the Bible which was written thousands of years ago. The behaviors that are components of homosexuality are mentioned repeatedly throughout the Bible.

What sexual behaviors are frowned upon by God? Basically, any form of sexual conduct that falls outside of sex between a male and a female, a male and a female who are bound to one another in marriage, a male and a female who together will give birth and who will multiply, are forbidden. According to the Bible, anything from thinking lustful or adulterous thoughts, to masturbation, to any sexual activity between a man and a man or a woman and a woman, sexual activities with animals, adultery, sex with relatives, and any form of ejaculation outside of the vagina (coitus interruptus) are forbidden. Those activities are in conflict with the word of God.

The Bible contains dozens of verses relating to sex. Matthew 5:28 “But I say unto you, that whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart. Exodus 20:14 “Thou shalt not commit adultery.” Exodus 22:19 “Whosoever lieth with a beast, shall surely be put to death.” Corinthians 7:2 “Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband.” Leviticus 18:22 “Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind. It is an abomination.” Leviticus 18:6 “None of you shall approach to any that is near of kin to him, to uncover their nakedness: I am the Lord.”

Often the sin of Onan is used as a scripture condemning masturbation and contraception. Genesis 8: 8- 10 reads “And Juday said unto Onan, go unto thy brother’s wife, and marry her, and raise up seed to thy brother. And Onan knew that the seed should not be his; and it came to pass, when he went in unto his brother’s wife, that he spilled it on the ground, lest that he should give seed unto his brother. And the thing which he did displeased the Lord: wherefore He slew him also.” My personal belief is that this scripture is being misused and is related to neither masturbation or contraception. However, many, many verses concerning lust and adultery do concern masturbation, in that self-gratification usually requires lustful thoughts. Thessalonians 4: 3 – 5 reads, “For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you should refrain from sexual immorality; that each of you should know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor, not in passion of lust, like the Gentiles who do not know God.”

At the most basic level, all categories of sexuality are the result of feelings within us. Those feelings may be caused by many, many different factors, many of which may have nothing to do with sexuality. Brother Thom posted a video on January 26, 2021 titled “Am I a Boy, or a Girl: How Christianity and the Bible Answer this Question.” It is well worth watching and considering the narration.

God made us man and woman; male and female. He gave us technology and He gave us the ability to change many of our physical characteristics. I often wonder what undergoing surgery and hormonal treatments to change physical gender, does to us mentally. Like the girl in the video Brother Thom shared with us, does a physical change solve the sexuality problem?

Does any of this mean that God loves some of us less than others? No, it does not. God loves all His children. God can forgive all His children. All His children can have eternal life. All His children can go to heaven. Salvation and eternal life are through Jesus Christ. Matthew 7: 13 – 14 read, “Enter ye in at the strait gate, for wide is the gate and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in the threat. Because strait is the gate, and narrow the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.” He is the gate and the path is narrow. He is the one who determines the rightness or the wrongness of what we do. The Bible, the word of God, is our guide to God and to Jesus Christ. In the end, They do the judging.

As has already been stated, we, at Moyock Christian Fellowship, believe in the Bible and believe it is the word of God. We are all human beings, therefore, we all sin. Our sins are no greater than, nor are they any less than, your sins. We are all struggling to do honor to God and His precious son, Jesus Christ.

Coming soon . . . the government, the church, gender and sexuality.

May God bless us all.
