Today is the Sixth Day of Passover and last day to sell your chametz.
Selling Chametz (leavened bread)
I discussed chametz yesterday and the practice of removing all leavened products from the Jewish home. Today we’re discussing what happens with that leavened bread.
Have you SOLD it?
This may sound strange to Christian’s unfamiliar with Jewish traditions, but you can sell your chametz prior to the morning preceding the start of Passover. Some Jews may want to sell their chametz to a Gentile. This practice allows the Jew to sell their unused chametz rather than destroying it by burning. Selling chametz is coordinated by the local Rabbi, and can be accomplished on-line. This process must have been completed not later than the morning prior to the start of Passover, March 26th this year.
