Handicap Accessible Ramp Project – August 2019
Founded in August 2019, Moyock Christian Fellowship (now New Wesleyan) completed its first major project in October of the same year.
Our first major project was building a handicap accessible ramp for Ms. Natalie Phillips. A long time member of Moyock Methodist Church, she is widely known in our community for running the food pantry at her church as well as the annual angel tree ministry. Her church declined to take on the project, so we stepped in to meet this need.
We were blessed in this effort to work with and along side the men of Moyock Baptist Church. Bringing this unfulfilled need to fruition was a blessing to the men who worked on the project.
Hurricane Dorian Disaster Recovery on the Outer Banks – September 2019
Brother Thom represented Moyock Christian (now New Wesleyan) on a mission trip to Avon, NC on the Outer Banks on September 13th, 2019 following Dorian’s devastating affects on the island. Working with St. John United Methodist Church, Thom spent the day cleaning up the yard and former chicken coup. The elderly couple Thom served, lost over a dozen chickens when the island was flooded.
Moyock Baptist Church Ramp Project – July 2020
In July of 2020 the men of New Wesleyan’s Moyock Christian Fellowship ministry were invited to join up with Moyock Baptist on a ramp project in Chesapeake, VA. Another great opportunity for our men to hone their carpentry skills leaning from Pastor Vic Ramsey and Hank. More here.
PIN Ministries – September 2020
In September 2020 the men were invited to help People in Need (PIN) Ministries get two residential homes ready for their new occupants. Their website says this:
“PiN exists to provide food, clothing, shelter, and free medical care for people that are either homeless or extremely poor. The ultimate focus is to help the homeless of Hampton Roads transform their lives by meeting them where they are and sharing a God that loves them and wants a relationship with them.”
Brother Thom was available for this project and he had a blast.
