United Methodists have a self-image that we are an open and welcoming faith community. We created the venerable slogan “Open hearts. Open minds. Open doors.” We celebrate the sacrament of Holy Communion with an “open table,” offering the bread and the cup to anyone willing to receive it. We have a constitutional system of governance with open pathways linking all parts of the connection together. We have Social Principles concerning major public issues, expressed in ways that say we are open to debate about them. Read more here.
With all that’s going on wrong in society today, we literally have to get out and effect change. If we don’t do it, who will? To make disciples of Jesus Christ, and truly transform the world, we have to go to the people. Sitting idly by waiting for people to walk thru the doors works in very small numbers and in very long periods of time. That’s why Moyock Christian Fellowship is working hard in the community to share the Peace of Jesus Christ with with as many people as God would put in our path.
